Just Me & Them on 18 Dec 2016 said:
Pet ownership is more than just giving them a home with a bed to sleep on, food to eat and water to drink. It is about all encompassing care to include routine grooming and health care. Observation of our pets is very important because if there is anything wrong they are unable to speak to us and ask for help. Therefore, checking teeth should be part of the routine grooming of your pet. 1st Impressions: • Packaged in a bright, eye-catching box, there is plenty of information on it to help the pet owner to make an informed choice. One side of the box is totally given over to documenting the aims and benefits of the product, a full list of ingredients and directions for use. • The Denti-Care cream is contained in a squeezable plastic tube, on which the Directions for Use etc are repeated. • Unscrew the cap and remove the metallic tamper proof seal. Screw on the pointed nozzle to dispense the product. In Use: • Gently lift the side of your pet's mouth and using the nozzle, squeeze a line of the paste where the gum and the teeth meet. Gently hold down the side of your pet's mouth and repeat on the other side. Then softly massage the mouth in a circular motion to distribute the Denti-Care. • The idea is that your pet in licking the paste will be distributing it around the gums and teeth and is in effect, cleaning its own teeth. • There is very little smell (to me anyway) attached to this paste. It is sort of like a very, very, feint smell of a mild human toothpaste. • The taste too is very, very light (yes, I tried it!!) so nothing really for your pet to dislike. • The consistency is very similar to human toothpaste and having put some on my finger and rubbed it, there is a very slight grittiness to it, which will help clean the teeth. I have two rescue dogs. A mongrel who has unfortunately had stained teeth and not very good breath since we first adopted her. She is a good girl and lets us check out her mouth with no problem. She was quite happy to have this cleaning past applied to her mouth and even though at present it has not made much difference to the look of her teeth, it has most definitely freshened her breath. I am hopeful that given longer time, that using this dental paste will help the condition of her teeth too. Our other dog is an Irish Border Collie and is the younger dog, being approx. 6¾ yrs old and her teeth are not as bad. They are not perfectly white and her breath is a little less than perfect. This product freshened "Maisy's" breath and again, on the log term I have confidence that it will improve the appearance of her teeth too. Teeth are often a problem with dogs and sometimes several different products used in tandem are required for a good result. Both dogs have the dental chews, but not too often because they are a product that can be a cause of weight gain. I also clean their teeth with the doggy toothbrush and paste as well. I have to add that using a product such as this, is no substitute for professional veterinary treatment. If your cat or dog has a severe problem with their teeth or gums, then a consultation with your Vet must be your first port of call to ascertain the cause and the best treatment plan.
